STATUS REPORT - 2019.11.14 - Steady As She Goes

Manufacturing Update
Chips (New Denominations) - Moulds for the new denominations are all being made and should be completed shortly. The new color samples have been sent, which are set to arrive before the end of the week. Once these arrive, we will be choosing final colors in time to get the remaining chips produced. We will share photos in the next update!
Chips (Existing Denominations) - Manufacturing of these 2.9 million chips is ongoing and is expected to continue for months.
200 & 400 Wooden Chest - Manufacturing of these boxes is now in progress!
200 & 400 Printed Box - We are waiting for revised samples of the Iron Clays 200 printed boxes with tweaked red. Again, these printed boxes have the smallest lead time of any of the parts of this project, so we are still very much on schedule. We will share photos in the next update!
Iron Spades - Decks are currently undergoing final assembly at Art of Play. Once Dan and Dave are finished this, they will be shipped to fulfillment services all over the world to prepare for fulfillment in January.
The last two weeks have consisted of a huge amount of logistical planning. Because we are dealing with 3 different manufacturers for this project, it has created some big complexities. Adam Wyse has done an amazing job over the last 4 months planning out what has turned into the most logistically complex project we've done to date.
Manufacturing of everything except for the 200 and 400 printed box is ongoing. Barring natural, unnatural, or supernatural disasters, we are still very much on target for fulfillment of the Iron Clays and Spades to begin in January 2020.

Manufacturing Update
Chips (New Denominations) - The moulds have been completed and approved! We are nearly satisfied with the colors. We are requesting one more color sample be sent. We are confident after this final color sample iteration we can move forward with production of the 50, 500, and 2k denominations. Once we accept final color matching, we will share photos!
Chips (Existing Denominations) - Manufacturing of these 2.9 million chips is ongoing and is expected to continue for months.

200 & 400 Printed Box - We received prototype samples. We are very satisfied with the foil on both designs. These boxes look super sexy! We have requested a color matching tweak to the red color on the 200 box, as it is slightly too brown, and should be closer to a red wine color. Once we have a final matched color, we will begin production of them (and share updated images). The color on the 400 box is perfect. Again, these printed boxes have the smallest lead time of any of the parts of this project, so we are still very much on schedule!

Chips (New Denominations) - Our contact at the manufacturer is on vacation this week. We assume that the moulds are completed and we will hopefully be receiving final colored samples soon. Once these are complete and they have sent samples we approve, we'll share some photos of the new denominations!

Chips (New Denominations) - We have received test shots of our selected Pantones, and they look fantastic. The manufacturer is still in the process of making moulds. Once these are complete and they have sent samples we approve, we'll share some photos of the new denominations!
Chips (Existing Denominations) - Manufacturing of these 2.9 million chips is ongoing and is expected to continue for months.
200 Wooden Chest - Prepress complete! These will begin production as soon as the 400 box is declared complete.
200 Printed Box - We have defined embossing and foil areas for the factory. We are now getting full prototypes so that we can select an appropriate foil for the boxes.

Manufacturing of almost all of the components has now begun. The last two things that need to be wrapped up are some paperwork and timelines with the wooden chest manufacturer, and for the final approval and foil designs of the samples of the 200 and 400 printed boxes, which we are expecting this week.
It is still possible that there could be delays--in the past, we've faced everything from typhoons to labor strikes to trade wars to manufacturing challenges, which each impact project fulfillment negatively. (In fact, we think we're due for some good luck with this one! 😊). But barring natural, unnatural, or supernatural disasters, we are still very much on target for fulfillment of the Iron Clays and Spades to begin in January 2020. (Fingers crossed!)

We've had a number of messages about the 400 Printed Box, asking for exact dimensions. While we don't yet have a prototype with the artwork, the physical shape and size is finalized; We've had a number of messages about the 400 Printed Box, asking for exact dimensions. While we don't yet have a prototype with the artwork, the physical shape and size is finalized; it measures 14" x 9" x 2.75" (35.5 x 23 x 7 cm) and is not too deep to fit into a standard Kallax, as pictured below.
(Note, this is still an advance prototype, and we've put it through some abuse andtesting here in the office. The red ribbon is coming out of the left hand side of the box, for illustration purposes; the top lid is the panel that is up against against Brass: Birmingham).

For those who have filled out their survey, in order to finalize order numbers with the manufacturer and fulfillment partners, we will be locking down, finalizing, and billing orders in 12 days' time. Preorders will remain open, and those who have not yet finalized their surveys will still be able to do so, but this is the moment where it officially becomes possible for individual items to begin selling out. If you have not yet finished your survey, we recommend you try not to leave it too much longer.

400 Printed Box - We have sent the design off to the manufacturer! Please see the 3D renderings our team created below. NOTE: these are not photographs, just conceptual 3D renderings of what we are trying to achieve with the design. We are ordering full mockup proofs to ensure everything is functional, and that the foil looks amazing!
